I was thinking about automagic seamless data sharing in 2015 and got it into my head to see who owned hello.com. Yes, my mind makes leaps like that.
Google does, if I read the record correctly.
Relevant screensnap portion after the break.
I don’t recall any Google service that ever used that domain. And the page refuses to load for me at all. Anyone?
Hello would be a damn good name for a Twitter-like competitor, eh?

I’d guess that Google picked up hello.com via an acquisition and they’ve decided to hold on to it even if they don’t have anything they want to do with it yet.
That’s a damn good domain name to have!
Google got it as part of the acquisition of Picasa back in 2004, and discontinued it back in 2008. They’ve been sitting on it for a while, and I don’t know why they aren’t taking advantage of it yet.
Hello would have been a better name than Google+.
