I have the DX Graphite with the Pearl Screen now and, as a result, I know exactly how happy people will be to get the new Kindle 3 with that screen – the clarity is just phenomenal. It’s like fine-print in that it’s just ultra sharp and crisp, and the text is no longer a dark grey on lighter gray. It’s really black. What I didn’t expect was how sharp the text is. As a visitor said today, the white DX I’ve had for a year seemed, to her in comparison, almost a bit blurry though I’ve always found it vivid before the Pearl screen.
I suppose the new Pearl screen makes the greatest impact on people who have used earlier generations of eInk screens. I wasn’t wowed.
