iCab Browser For iOS Warning

A follow-up to: Outgoing Links Have Been Hacked?

I thought my blog had been hacked because after clicking on one of those links from my Dashboard (screensnapped in that post), I wound up at a spam placeholder site instead, as usual, some site linked to in this blog.

I contacted WordPress about this and the explanation was:

There is no hacking going on here. The strange links seem to be caused by a non-standard page rewriting scheme iCab Mobile browser for iOS. I have removed them from your reports and we will no longer collect them.

I have no idea of the technical issues here, but as long as no one other than the iCab browser user was being affected, I guess it’s OK.

Except people on other blogging systems and sites whose Dashboard display outgoing links should know of this too.

Thanks to WordPress Support for the clarification and cleanup.
