High-Definition Doesn’t Solve Everything

Someone asked for a list of the books in the now-canceled (damn you to hell) AMC-TV series, Rubicon.

That’s a post I’ll get to sometime in the future.

I thought having access to over 25,000 (!!!) HDTV screensnaps from Rubicon would make this process easier than using the non-HDTV screensnaps I create on my own.

Sad to say, this is not so.

I sent myself several HDTV screensnaps via email to pick up on an iPad at the Apple Store to test.

These snaps are actual size, so they will balloon if you click on them.

This is a shot of Will’s bookcase from episode 1:

Using the iPad, I pinched-out to zoom to see if I could distinguish titles:

Not what I expected. I can honestly get blur like that with my own non-HD screensnaps.

I can distinguish the same level of detail in my own screensnaps.

So, HD doesn’t solve everything. But HD does make Lauren Hodges more exciting to look at in screensnaps, so there’s that!
