None of the major writers organizations recognize ebook originals, because then they would have to recognize independent ebook publishers, which they have been fighting tooth and nail for decades. Ditto for on-demand printing.
When He Who Shall Not Be Named (c.f. JAK posts) was prez of MWA, their board changed the membership criteria so that several digital publishers who had previously been recognized were ousted unless they changed their business model. SFWA did something similar about 8 years earlier–changed the criteria in such a way digital presses’ authors could qualify then held an emergency meeting to correct the error.
