When He Who Shall Not Be Named (c.f. JAK posts) was prez of MWA, their board changed the membership criteria so that several digital publishers who had previously been recognized were ousted unless they changed their business model. SFWA did something similar about 8 years earlier–changed the criteria in such a way digital presses’ authors could qualify then held an emergency meeting to correct the error.
