Asus Eee Note: Size And More

This is an interesting photo of the Asus Eee Note compared to a typical 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of paper:

Click = big

That’s from a review in South Korea (which can’t be run through Google Translate because the text is all image!).

To compare:

Asus Eee Note: 8.75″ x 5.47″ x 0.43″ – 18.3 oz (without cover)
NookColor: 8.1″ x 5.0″ x 0.48″ – 15.6 oz
Sony Reader Daily 2: 7.87″ x 5.04″ x 0.38″ – 9.6 oz
Samsung Galaxy Tab: 7.48″ x 4.74″ x 0.46″ – 12 oz
Barnes & Noble Nook: 7.7″ x 4.9″ x 0.5″ – 12.1 oz
Amazon Kindle 3: 7.5″ x 4.8″ x 0.335″ – 8.5-8.7 oz
Sony Reader Touch 2: 6.62″ x 4.75″ x 0.4″ – 7.58 oz

This device could be very significant if it will actually have a price “under $200” in the U.S.. As Nate over at The Digital Reader states:

If that is for real, then the e-reader market just flipped upside down again. With that retail price it’s a serious threat to the Nook, Kindle, NookColor, everything. Hell, with 13 hours battery life it’s a threat to Android tablets.

I usually don’t do hardware reviews, but after seeing that video I embedded here yesterday, I became very interested in it. I’ve sent an email to Asus requesting a review unit. It’s unlikely they’ll agree to furnish one, but I thought I’d take the shot.
