Some Blog Changes

I moved the widgets around. I should have had Search and Calendar at the top. Don’t know why I didn’t. Archives are now at the bottom.

I changed the background color to black, didn’t like it, went back to default.

Changed the title’s stupid subhead, which I still hate.

Looked at some other WordPress themes, but none of them appeal to me.

  1. WordPress have premium themes now. I bought one. The difference is marked. They provide more design features and options. Plus, crucially, they are optimized for SEO – the front page posts are excerpts by default. Plus canonical urls which stops Google penalizing you for duplicate content.

I’ll be getting another premium theme for a new project I’m doing – if I continue with WordPress, which I probably will.

Yeah, I saw the premium ones but didn’t even bother to preview them. Are those one-time or yearly rentals? I don’t need SEO. My posts get on Google very quickly as it is. WordPress.com is excellent at that.

Do you have to put a subhead? If you don’t like it, why not just leave it blank?

I change my theme all the time and need to stop. I’m never satisfied and all the themes at WP suck. Too dark, too light, etc. Premium themes are tied to WP I think. If I leave, it stays, so, why bother.

What disqualifies themes for me is the way they handle Blockquote. Light gray text that’s hard to read or, worse, light gray *and* all italics!!

Yes, the blockquote feature is the only thing going for this theme huh? I was wondering why it was so popular. *kidding* Hey, mine is barely tolerable. May change it again. Later.

I can’t deal with bad Blockquoting. There are eejits out there who think that text is *mine* using some sort of frikkin *highlighting*!
