Whatever Happened To Agent Crush?

Three years ago I was clued in to this movie in production:

Since then, nada!

Is someone really going to tell me utter shit like this can be financed and released when Agent Crush cannot?

The Agent Crush site has disappeared.

Crawley Creatures has a photo gallery of their work on it.

Mike Trim, former designer for Gerry Anderson, worked on the movie and has blog posts here and here and here.

Fantastic Films International has info here and photos here (scroll down at each link).

Wikipedia even has a sparse entry.

So, what happened?

  1. If the project is all together dead, I’m seriously going to go insane….. Waste thousands on something and never release it…. Quite a wise investment on Fabulous Films’s part… Fake movie making like CGI works is a mockery to any effort that could be done, even something with models like “Jackboots on Whitehall” which you deem as utter shit, is still a step up to me.

Crush isn’t CGI, although it has some in it it. It’s mainly puppets and miniatures. Not their fault that distributors won’t touch most puppet movies. STRINGS had only very limited release despite its rave reviews.

EDIT: Hell, even live action movies have problems. London Boulevard and Blitz, both based on Ken Bruen books that have sold well, went to DVD.

      • I know it’s not CGI…. I said CGI is all you see now, and real puppetry and models is a dead artform…. I know it may not be a wise investment on their part for puppet films, but in today’s CGI obsessed industry, it’d be a nice change.

Yes, I agree completely. Did you ever see STRINGS? It’s very good.

      • I never saw “Strings”, but i’ll keep my eye out. I wouldn’t doubt that if Fantastic Films won’t release “Agent Crush”, it’ll be leaked eventually…

      • mikecane

Strings is really an epic movie, in more ways than one. I really suggest hunting it down.

  2. Mrs Moon

Fantastic films locked this film in as sales agent, and clearly don’t have what it takes to sell anything. someday the contract will expire and perhaps this film will see the light of day.

  3. Duncan Parsons

I feel the same way.. been looking out for the film for a few years.. even sent the odd email to Fantastic Films but never got a reply.

Hopefully one day a DVD release will come, if nothing else..

  4. Jake Rayne

i worked on the first one before it went down due to a variety of reasons it was an amateurish director and producer,

    • J Brown

@Jake Rayne you worked on Crush, what doing you’re not listed on IMDB?

    • sean robinson

Jake Rayne, you are a liar, you never worked on Agent Crush before or after it restarted I know becuse I am the SO CALLED amateurish Director and Producer as for what happened to it watch this space.
By the way ifJ ake Rayne is your real name, i will be watching out for you

      • mikecane

I’d like to know what happened to the movie too. From the trailer, the script didn’t seem particularly compelling but as a fan of Gerry Anderson productions and those influenced by him, I was looking forward to seeing the finished film.

  5. Sean Robinson

    Hi Mike,

I’m Sean Robinson, writer, director and producer of Agent Crush. Forgive my outburst and I don’t normally vent at silly people who call me names but I find it extraordinary how people can be so unkind when they know nothing about me or how the film industry works.

Agent Crush has been a great success for me and has opened many opportunities in the industry. I appreciate your kind comments about the film and vote of confidence. I can’t go into all the reasons why it hasn’t come out yet but all I can say is that it was no fault of mine or because of the quality of the film. We continue to try to get it out there. Keep watching, your wish to see the finished film may come true soon!

    Regards
    Sean

The film industry is weird, so don’t worry about it. I hope someday we will see it, even if only released — legitimately — on the Net. Good luck.

    Message for Sean Robinson.
I for one would love to see this released and I’m sure I’m not alone.
I can only guess at the reasons for delayed release but if its not legal and purely cash related, may I suggest the Kickstarter option. If nothing else its a publicity vehicle and might prompt a big backer. Its worked for others.
    All the best,
    John.

  7. I was an investor in Agent Crush. I thought the story line was simple but entertaining. The filming quality was pretty average, quite jerky. The voiceovers were great and had great expression from Brian Blessed and Rula Lenska amongst others. However the whole thing was very poorly managed and we had zero confidence in Sean who eventually sold the investors down the river by taking expensive loan financing rather than engaging properly with shareholders. If it had been managed properly this would have been a small hit, with a sequel already out and merchandise in the shops. I see in Companies House that Agent Crush has been newly incorporated May 2013, which would be a surprise to the shareholders in Agent Crush who never received notice of dissolution, no company accounts, or anything for several years!

    • sean Robinson

Well clive thank you for your expert coments, didnt know you were an expert film critic. Yes you were a minor investor in Agent Crush and glad to see you recieved your generous tax right off from the government. I did not persuade you to invest if I had met you at the investor meeting I would certainly not have accepted your money. I did not take expensive loan finacing from anyone, that part was managed by Haiburn who raised the finance to actually make the film, As for Agent Crush being newly incorporated in 2013 I know nothing about that. I was the one who faught for 4 years on your behalf to get the film released. I agree it was not properly managed but that was down to the two so called prodcers not doing their job properly and investors meddling in matters they know nothing about that caused the film to be shelved. As for my preformance in witting and directing the movie, well hollywod were very impressed indeed and you say that the voices were great an and had great expression from Brian and Rula, thanks very much for that compliment as it was me who got that out of them. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but you should stick to the facts when you decide to attack someone. I too have have learned a lot from the Agent Crush affair, mainly be very carefull who you go into business with.

      • sean Robinson

I remember you approached me at the crew showing and you said that you hated it, well the other 963 people there loved it which included all of the other investors.
as my grandad used to say, you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Especially someone who deliberatly refuses to like anything or anyone.

  8. Having just come across some of the model and production work for this film on a facebook site , I personally would love to see it released .. fingers crossed .
