Apple’s Very Own iTARDIS

What would make sense for Apple to use its $51+ billion in cash for a strategic acquisition?

Apple has used that money to corner the market on advanced components, getting them before everyone else — and blocking competitors for at least a year or two.

If it feels like new Apple products appear futuristic, it is because Apple really is sending back technology from the future.

Boldfaced emphasis added by me.

Oh, the irony! Just last week I wrote:

And the slimmer and lighter [iPad] 2 makes it seems like you’re holding a paper notepad. It feels like a device from the Star Trek future.

So, it turns out that it really is, the way Apple is doing business.

I guess we can expect the HP TouchPad to have an iPad 2-quality screen only after Apple has given the iPad a higher-resolution screen and again left everyone in the dust.

Everyone else will get Apple’s leftovers and remain stuck in the past.
