This Comment at XDA Developers points to a labor-intensive method.
But it also points to an “easier” method at this Mobileread Comment.
Neither method is really easy, aside from the new TouchNooter which has to forgo Google Apps.
If you’re not a developer and have no prior rooting experience, my advice is to stick with the new TouchNooter method. Especially if you have some way to get APKs other than through the Android Market directly (for instance, knowing people with Market access who can send you the APKs).
