Here’s a strange photo I just came across in Flickr today. This is possibly the first sighting of a production tablet with a Pixel Qi screen in America. All other ones have been demo models shown in overseas trade shows. I don’t know who makes this tablet.

Reading an archive.org book in full sun (next to fog) on a Pixel Qi tablet, originally uploaded by mangtronix.
The photo information states:
This photo was taken on October 31, 2011 in Outer Richmond, San Francisco, CA, US, using an Apple iPhone 4.
That’s Michael Ang of the Internet Archive. 10/31 would have been during the Books in Browsers Conference, which I’m sure had Pixel Qi folks present.
Yep, they were there.
Exactly – Mary Lou Jepsen, Pixel Qi’s founder was at Internet Archive’s Books in Browsers conference talking about the state of the art in screens and why every screen we’re buying now isn’t actually conducive to reading. Her demo units absolutely stole the show
Doesn’t look shooped /at all/

I have a PixelQi tablet, it is the Notion Ink Adam. I have a bit of buyer’s remorse after seeing prices this last weekend, but overall it is a quality tablet and I really like the PixelQi display (which was the largest reason I purchased it.) Not sure if you consider the Adam to be a “production” tablet, as all of the shipped models so far have been considered “pre-orders”.
The Adam is so far off most people’s radar, it’s easy to forget. As evidently I did!
