Connected, Yet Decentralized And Vital

Dear Mark Zuckerberg

I believe that a number of smaller, interoperable social platforms with a clear, sustainable business models will usurp you.

The same needs to be said about Apple’s iBookstore, Amazon’s Kindle Store, Google Books/eBookstore, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and others.

They are the disintermediaries who now need to be disintermediated themselves for the good of books and especially for the good of writers.

And if Dalton is right and both Facebook and Twitter fall, so will those huge centralized stores.

The days of centralized large systems like AOL are over. The Internet overthrew them. Now it’s time for the Internet to overthrow these new AOLs too.
