Amid Cutbacks, Greek Doctors Offer Message to Poor: You Are Not Alone
As the head of Greece’s largest oncology department, Dr. Kostas Syrigos thought he had seen everything. But nothing prepared him for Elena, an unemployed woman whose breast cancer had been diagnosed a year before she came to him.
By that time, her cancer had grown to the size of an orange and broken through the skin, leaving a wound that she was draining with paper napkins. “When we saw her we were speechless,” said Dr. Syrigos, the chief of oncology at Sotiria General Hospital in central Athens. “Everyone was crying. Things like that are described in textbooks, but you never see them because until now, anybody who got sick in this country could always get help.”

The truth is that I feel like we are a subject of a huge experiment: despite our own mistakes (which were many) it seems like if the Banks wanna exterminate us.
The IMF, the EU and the Banks, keep asking for lower salaries.
I can understand being asked to fight corruption and the hydrocephalous state that keeps bleeding money from the people of Greece.
What I cannot understand is how the rest of the world, in the form of Banks, IMF and the European community, ask from Greeks to work for 200 or 300Euros per month in a country the main food goodies are more expensive than in France, Germany and UK.
Instead of taxing the rich they cut from pensions from poor elder ppl.
They put huge extra taxes to everyone who owns a house (small or big), without taking into consideration if you are unemployed or you have a low income. If you don’t pay this tax, they cut off your electricity and eventually they take your house…..
So you have “austerity measures” to kill any sign of any middle class left, by vaporising incomes, jobs and PROPERTY.
Most of Greeks are so “miserables” that sell their propertied for a piece of bread to… the rich ones.
At the same time, nobody cares that Greece is a huge and uncontrolled entry point for Muslim immigrants (more than 1500000 in a country of 10millions…). Immigrants that except being illegal and not checked for health issues cannot find any work. So apart for being a death dare to walk at night alone or sometimes to just be at your house waiting to be invaded by burglars and murderers, the NAZI party has found a base to thrive and for the first time ever to enter the Greek Parliament and be the 3rd party! In the country that gave birth to Democracy.
I read the comments in that article and I weep…
“its time for Greeks to be punished for living a good life with other ppl’s money”, “yeah lazy Greek it was your fault”.
Victims of a propaganda that hides the fact that Greeks for years now work the most hours and get the less money from ANY EUROPEAN COUNTRY…

That is probably a fact right there and why I keep watching Greece. The bankers probably do too, wondering how much blood they can squeeze out of a nation before the nation rebels or is spiritually crushed.
