Biden: Obama Considering ‘Executive Order’ to Deal With Guns

And:

We are raising a generation of deluded narcissists

We had better get a plan together to combat this greatest epidemic as it takes shape. Because it will dwarf the toll of any epidemic we have ever known. And it will be the hardest to defeat. Because, by the time we see the scope and destructiveness of this enemy clearly, we will also realize, as the saying goes, that it is us.

The true irony of that Drudge headline: Hitler and Stalin were narcissists.

Damning Surface RT Quote

4 weeks with Microsoft Surface

After this experience with Surface, I went back to an old laptop (5.5+ years old, also running Win 8) and I was absolutely amazed at how the old laptop was blazing fast compared to Surface. And we’re talking about a laptop with a mechanical hard disk, as compared to Surface with a flash drive. The performance must be definitely improved so I can justify the Surface cost. At this point, it’s a better to purchase a low end laptop, as it will give a better performance.

As Microsoft’s flagship Windows 8 hardware, it should be greased lightning and problem-free.

And that post is why I pay attention to users. After the break, see a typical bullshit “review” video that says really nothing.

How It Works In The Real World

Never Lie About Who You Really Are

People at all levels, especially management, witness the slow undoing of good customer service, product quality, or safety standards, and they don’t say a thing about it. Even if it violates their own value system and the mission of the company.

How this works in real life in business:

1) Bitch about something that’s wrong

2) Be labeled “not being a team player”

3) You are then seen as the problem

4) You’re fired or you must quit due to pressure or alienation

Saying you’re a “team player” in an interview is a passport to entry because you’re saying you’ll allow any shit to happen around you for the sake of selling your soul and your self-respect for a paycheck. “Team player” is code for “we’re getting away with shit here and you better not rat us out.” “Team players” are corrupt sons of bitches who deserve their inevitable failure and bankruptcy. Anyone who wants to contradict this statement is a corrupt son of bitch too, so don’t bother.

CES 2013 Notes #3

Updated with Dell news at end

Yeah, it looks like Archos is finally Bringing It:

US$199 for that versus a US$329 iPad. Less internal storage but that doesn’t really matter with a microSD card slot. That also looks like stock Jelly Bean and should run wicked fast. Too bad the WiFi wasn’t working. I would have liked to have seen Sunspider and other benchmarks run on it. This could be the best eight-inch Android tablet shown so far. Even if Google did an eight-inch Nexus 8, it’d lack a microSD card slot.

Archos is all over the map now. They have five damn lines: Carbon, Cobalt, Platinum, Titanium, and XS (and that’s in alphabetical order, not in brand/price order!). And to make matters confusing, after the break is a video of the Archos 80 Titanium.
