I framed this shot deliberately …
… the woman at the lower left is taking a photo with an iPad Mini.
More evidence that Manhattan has been degraded into a playground for the idiots of the Daddy Pays The Rent, the I Have A Trust Fund, and the I’m Rich Because I’m Just Better Than You crowds.
The more I see of Manhattan, the more alienated I become from my own damn city. What a disgrace.
What is the story behind the sand castle??
Just what you see in that banner. All I know.
I think you’re being a little cynical here. Apparently the sculptor is from Staten Island and recently won a world championship: http://www.silive.com/news/index.ssf/2013/07/staten_islander_places_at_worl.html
That Manhattan wants to bring some interesting and ephemeral art to the city and to showcase a local artist doesn’t seem despicable to me. The Mayor trying to show off in the sign does strike me as bad taste. However what I find really shocking is that they feel a need to put up a sign like that to warn vandals. I could not imagine something so crass for a similar animation here in Europe.
First, don’t misuse the word “cynical.”

Second, let them do that shit at the beach, where people who don’t give a shit about it won’t have to see it.
Third, it rained like hell last night and I hope it became a pile of sand again.
“Cyncial?” You mean cynical. I was using the word in its accepted modern definition, not in reference to the ancient Greek school of philosophy.
I fixed it and the hell with the way the dumbasses of today misuse the word. That’s why they’re dumbasses.
