The Intel Atom-Powered Teclast P89 Mini

Imp3Net claims it’s “officially released” [Google English].

Those words must have a different meaning in China, because it’s still not at the Teclast website.

Nevertheless we have most of the final specs.

Intel Atom Z2580 CPU “clocked up to” 2GHz, 2GB LPDDR2 RAM, unknown storage [likely 16GBs] (eMMC, not NAND), 1024 x 768 7.9-inch IPS screen, 2MP front and 5MP back cameras, GPS, WiDi, Bluetooth 4.0, 4,600mAh battery with a claimed up to 8 hours of 720p video playback or general mixed-use life of 10 hours with a standby of 60 hours.

No mention of a USB port or microSD card slot, but they must be there. It’s confirmed there is no HDMI-Out on this tablet. Instead, WiDi will fulfill TV display. Although WiDi can also do Miracast, that’s not yet been conformed for this tablet.

I wonder if Teclast has an Intel exclusive with this. It’s a bit of a coup for them, aside from the Lenovo phone, having a tablet in a hot form factor with their chip inside.

I really want to see reviews of this. Hell, I’d settle for astroturf for more information. IFA Berlin is the week after next, so we might see this get some coverage there, even if it’s only at an Intel exhibit.

Do you think a 3g option might be released?

Probably eventually. 3G is the new selling point in China. But that doesn’t mean it’ll work with 3G where *you* live.

  2. You do know the Atom is a weak piece of junk, right? Ever actually used a netbook or tablet powered by one, they are painfully slow.
