Other than his Nixon interviews, I have nothing to note. He seemed to be all over the place in the 1970s yet wasn’t one of those people you could exactly pin down. Even with so few channels, television had that kind of space back then.

He did so much for television in the early days. I remember watching ‘That Was That Week That Was’ or TW3 as it was sometimes called – I was only 13!!
It was one of the birthplaces of live Satire in the UK and with its sketch-writers list looking like a who’s who of comedy – many still around today, it set a benchmark for comedy in the UK. I suspect that many of the original sketch’s would not get an airing in today’s PC climate which is a great shame.
