This is odd. ZOL acts as if this is an entirely new product from Chuwi and not just a re-dress of the original 2GB V88, even though “facelift” is in the review title [Google English].
Here’s a chart ZOL did of the Chuwi V88 models:
Update September 12, 2013: Markoff in Comments noticed that ZOL’s resolution specs are all wrong. All three models are 1024 x 768.
It’s already out of date, not including the new and rather ridiculous Chuwi V88HD.
Here’s something that no other review — or even Chuwi owner — has ever brought up. Chuwi cheats:
The USB cable they ship with has a plug reduced in length! This is bad tablet design. The internal clearance at the bottom of the tablet for the USB port and microSD card slot is simply incorrect. Apparently their circuit board engineer needs a slap upside his head. Maybe their shell designer too.
The ZOL review doesn’t bother to test the camera or provide sample images. It also doesn’t even test for ten-point multitouch.
However, the end of the review is filled with benchmarks [Google English]. We get our first review use of AnTuTu 4.0 on the “Ice Green” Chuwi V88 (click to enlarge):
AnTuTu 4.0 spec screen:
AnTuTu 4.0 score:
Here’s an odd screen comparing it to the Nexus 7 (I don’t know if this is the 2012 or 2013 edition):
And the NenaMark2 score:
Despite mentioning the AC adapter ships out of the box, ZOL doesn’t even hint at any charging problems or the repeated posts at forums bringing up the issue of the flaky — and possibly dangerous — charger. Go figure.
