It’s a measure of how seriously I took the Dell Venue 8 that I did two PDF tests on it.

The first test is of The American Magazine, the usual Google Books file:
Compare that video to the one I did with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. The snap of the Note just isn’t there.
The second is the Gotterdammerung test. This is the JPEG2000-based Processed World magazine from the Internet Archive. This is a PDF that has defeated every tablet so far, including the iPad.
Yeah, that performance is basically typical for every other tablet too.
When people say that games are the measure of hardware performance, they don’t have a freakin clue what they’re talking about. That PDF is a true measure of performance. When hardware can page through that PDF as easily and as effortlessly as we can flip paper pages in a magazine, that will be the day tablets are finally powerful.
