Steven Moffat’s idea of a holiday for The Doctor is to have him age 300 years in one place. Still, he wove together elements he created in an unexpected way.

But for a Christmas special, this was rather grim. Simply naming a town Christmas was really pushing things.

And Peter Capaldi! It’s difficult to imagine him doing the things Matt Smith could do: Being suave, charming, silly, and even comedic. It will be interesting to see how Moffat handles him in the writing ahead.

This time, no “Geronimo!”
