iFive Mini 4: New Information

From this point on, I will stop preceding it with “Retina-class” since the iFive Mini 4 designation makes it clear this is a new generation of tablet.

From Weibo’s FindFive account, we have two new photos:

This second one is where I have to rely on that account for claiming it’s the Mini 4. I note it doesn’t have the twin arrows in the lower iconbar that will collapse the bar — that’s a feature of Five Technology tablets.

The Weibo FNF account teases the iFive Mini 4 without clearly announcing it or even naming it:

Which Google Translate renders as:

Five new elements RK3288 Rockchip machine king to join the Hong Kong Electronics Fair debut, 4K HD, the new A17 master, run points near 4W. .

It’s a bit worrying that Five is now backing away from the 40,000-range AnTuTu score by saying it runs “near 4W [40,000].”

I won’t quibble, though. In truth, both the octa-core Allwinner A80 and the quad-core Rockchip 3288 should deliver a whole new level of tablet performance and people will likely be satisfied with either CPU in a tablet.

Now all we have to do is wait for Five Technology to officially announce the Mini 4 so we can know its price and availability.
