Onda has yet to officially announce a third hardware revision — there’s nothing on their Weibo at post time about this — but it’s public knowledge now at their firmware download page:
The firmware is still 1.0.2 but otherwise it’s so new it has today’s date — July 26th, 2014.
I have no idea what sort of hardware revisions are being done by Onda. But if they require three different versions of firmware, it has to be something that’s making each model different enough to require a customized firmware.
We can basically write off versions 1 and 2 as being “beta test” hardware. So let’s hope that everyone who buys an Onda V989 gets version 3 — and that the hardware revisions will end there. No one wants to wind up with a different hardware revision number and then have to wait for a customized firmware update.
