Emdoor US$65 7-Inch Windows Tablet

Over at PadNews, a report about a “pity tablet” that I wouldn’t give an enemy as a gift [Google Translate].

EmdoorUS65FHKEF001

The photo alone shows the screen is absolute crap. So are the actual specs: 7-inch screen at 1024 x 600 resolution, Intel quad-core Baytrail-T CR_V2 Z3735G at unknown speed, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage. Ports unknown.

PadNews says:

Although the configuration of this product is not good, but Windows system on the 7-inch display of the experience is not good, but its advantage is that the price cheap enough, and you can run the most common PC applications. Kan said the “poor man’s first Windows computer.”

Boldfaced emphasis added by me.

Hitting a “price point” is a foolish quest. The goal of any product should be to make customers happy. This is shit. And “the poor” deserve better.

Ployer: US$65 Windows 8.1 Tablet

IMP3Net photo from the Fall Hong Kong Electronics Fair [Google Translate]:

The Ployer MOMO8W is US$81. So this has to be something new. Specs as yet unknown.

Note that the CUBE iWork7 is US$65. So this move by Ployer is actually a big shift in the market.

I’m not sure Google, Intel, or Microsoft will be happy with this graphic:

Will the Onda V975w be getting an update? Onda 976w?

Trained Professionals Getting Ebola

October 5:

So did Frieden mean we must first wait for Ebola to make tracks before it can be stopped?

Tell me again how these are trained professionals with strict protocols to follow.

Reassure me and everyone else who last night re-watched the movie, Contagion.
