Xiaomi Assistant 2.1 Nearly Released

Weibo:

I say “nearly” because the download link — which I’m not putting here — doesn’t work. Doh!

I wonder if this is going to evolve into something like iTunes, but better?

Xiaomi Now Third In The World

Xiaomi Rises to No. 3 in Global Smartphone Market

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has emerged as the world’s third-largest smartphone maker just four years after it was established.

Xiaomi sold 19 million smartphones in the third quarter of this year, market researcher IHS iSuppli said Monday.

Huawei, which ranked third last year, fell behind Xiaomi in the third quarter by selling 16.8 million smartphones. China’s Lenovo, which acquired Motorola, and LG, which is rapidly regaining its former sales volume, are both vying for the No. 3 spot but fell short of Xiaomi.

I wonder if Xiaomi is going to produce its own version of the Galaxy Note? That would be something to see!

Xiaomi also took out a three-year loan of one billion dollars from a consortium of twenty-nine banks to fund overseas expansion [Google Translate].

And yet, I still wonder about the sales of the Xiaomi MiPad. How are they?

Google Books PDF Test: Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4

Test, photos, video done yesterday, Tuesday October 28, 2014. Click photos to enlarge.

With the Apple Store SOHO failing to give me the WiFi bandwidth I required, I went to Best Buy. Where they had the prior generation of iPads on display. Damn them.

There weren’t any tablets I hadn’t seen before, so I wasn’t sure if I’d do any test. I wanted to try the eight-inch Toshiba tablet, but it wouldn’t open the Windows Store so I could see about getting Foxit Mobile PDF to try. Way to go, Microsoft! (And yes, I made sure it was connected to WiFi, etc, etc.)

I came across the lust-tatstic Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 with its gorgeouslicious Super AMOLED screen and decided to try that again.

This photo doesn’t do it justice:

It’s the first desktop screen I could tolerate using. I couldn’t see one damn pixel.

Google Books PDF Test: iPad Mini 3

Test, photos, videos done yesterday, Tuesday October 28, 2014. Click photos to enlarge.

Even though the iPad Mini 2 and iPad Mini 3 are equivalent, I still wanted to be sure I was using the 3:

GBooksiPadMini3001b

Just like with the iPad Air 2, the demo Mini 3 was a capacity Apple won’t sell to us peasants: 32GBs.

This was a short test, with just one test file done due to issues with the Apple Store SOHO WiFi being overloaded. I’d previously done other iPad Mini tests so this one was just a What The Hell one.
