They are where their customers are.

Hmmm… I would argue that Apple in some ways is even closer to its customers, via its large chain of retail stores – 444 in 18 countries (see https://locate.apple.com/country for lists), where staff can work with customers in their native language and new customers can play with Apple computers, get usage lessons, etc.

    Google and Amazon, not so much.
