An open letter to Oprah, whose ‘The Life You Want’ tour asked me to work for free [link fixed]
I want a life in which people are not asked to work for free—by people who can totally afford to pay.
I am not surprised.
Oprah really doesn’t like “sharing her abundance” in any way, shape, or form. Unless she can get paid for it!
Cue Harlan Ellison:
Thanks, @moriahjovan
Previously, in 2008:
I don’t have a problem with Oprah demanding to be paid for what she does, and I don’t expect her to “share.”
But “sharing” is the wrong word.
It is not SHARING to pay someone for legitimate work. It’s just a fair trade. I would say the same thing for someone who’s cash-strapped, but in this instance, the offense is particularly egregious because this is a very wealthy woman who is MOOCHING.
Oprah would not work for free, but Oprah is demanding the artist work for her for free. Why? Because Oprah is an entitled bitch who can teach Leona Helmsley a thing or two.
She is crass. Gauche. Low class.
She’s a bully
