January 31: Xiaomi + QQ Hookup

There was some minor hype today about a Xiaomi announcement partnering with QQ tomorrow.

It seems what will happen has just been leaked.

Weibo:

XiaomiQQPhoneWeibo01

For the longest time, I thought “Therefore Mouth” was a Xiaomi employee because he sends co-founders and others many Weibos in the course of each day. He’s just a tenacious Xiaomi fanboi who likely wants to work for them!

Bending iPhone 6 Plus, Meet Warping Mi TV!

Ow! I know the 4K Mi TV is a bargain at its price, but what’s happening here? It’s claimed that using it a lot causes it to warp? Is that a thermal issue related to the shell material?

Pipo Work W7: US$65 Windows 8.1 Tablet

It was announced yesterday but I didn’t pick up on the price until today.

PipoWorkW7Splash

It’s a miserable seven-inch screen, so you get what you should expect for US$65. A cheap, miserable experience that will frustrate you and make you wish you’d spent US$81 for their eight-inch tablet — which is only “1/16” so if you’d really buy that you shouldn’t be handling valuable money at all.

For more information, see the Pipo forum [Google Translate].

Rumor Reiteration: Xiaomi Flagship Phone

Weibo:

XiaomiFlagshipSpecsRumorWeibo

This is the rumored “CES phone” although other rumors point to a launch in China on January 15.

Which is correct? Are any of them? Not long to go.

I plop this in here to compare to whatever is eventually announced to judge how good a source this is.

Xiaomi MiBand iOS App Lays An Egg

Weibo:

iOSMiBandBugWeibo01

They say it affects only the iOS app. But in the Mi Forum, there are people who say it’s also the Android app [Google Translate]. Plus there are people saying that the Bluetooth connection is often lost, which means they never get wrist Notifications.
