New Intel-powered ASUS ZenPad tablets leak online ahead of launch
Next up is the ASUS ZenPad 8 (P01M), which passed through FCC certification. According to reports, the new 8-inch tablets (Z380KL and Z380C) will share the design of the ZenPad 7, but will be powered by more advanced components. We’re looking at the Intel Atom Z3560 or Z3530 Moorefield, 2GB of RAM and 8/16/32/64GB configurations for internal storage. The display has a QXGA resolution of 2048×1536.
Boldfaced emphasis added by me.
Well, this is a surprise. Is the Android world due to fall into 4:3 tablets with widescreen ones becoming a minority?
Intel’s CPU designations confuse me too much to make the effort to decipher them. Can anyone Comment if the rumored CPUs are more powerful than the Z3580 in the Nokia N1? (If so, Nokia has a problem …)
I’m still looking forward to the new Samsung Galaxy S2 Tabs, but having more options is always good.
Same-day update: Interestingly, the Asus Zenfone 2 uses the Intel Z3560 (2GB model) and Z3580 (4GB) CPUs. Why wouldn’t they use the Z3580 in a tablet too? Perhaps the Z3530 mentioned above is a typo or wrong info.
Second same-day update: Check out the the Asus Zenfone 2 AnTuTu score with the Intel Z3580 and the AnTuTu score of the Nokia N1 tablet that also uses the Z3580. These scores are about 10,000 points higher than the current crop of 9.7-inch tablets from China (CUBE, Teclast, Onda, Vido).
First Japan said this, now China.
Hello, China. Tell me where Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, Sharp, and other big Japanese brand names are today.
Crushed by Apple!
Until recently, I’d be able to read back several pages of a Weibo feed. Now it’s limiting some feeds to just two pages.
This is frustrating as hell. Today one of my Xiaomi feeds goes back just to about 14:00 (2PM) at the end of the second page. No way to go all the way to 8AM (when most China businesses begin their Weibo work).
So if other people checking Weibo wonder, “Well why didn’t he run this Weibo?” — it’s probably because I couldn’t see it.
No. No. No. It’s never enough. Stop being a storage fascist!
What annoys me about the high-end Xiaomi phones — including the Mi Note Pro — is the lack of microSD card slot. And that’s the way Hugo Barra wants it: Hugo Barra on why Xiaomi is against microSD cards in phones.
That short-sighted shit will come back to haunt Barra and wound Xiaomi.
Computer Memory: 640K Ought to be Enough for Anyone
Same-day update: This gets up my nose so much, I had to come back to this post. Hey, Xiaomi. Here’s your solution! Make your own damn microSD cards, just like Samsung does.
