I had no intention of watching this.
I have no interest in magic and spells and that sort of thing.
But it was sitting there, waiting to be watched. I had some time and did it.
Mr. Norrell is a solitary and unassuming figure who is most at home with his books of magic.
How I can relate to that!
He’s paired with a savvy and sketchy character who understands the ways of Man …
… who pushes him to establish his reputation, otherwise of what use is all of his studies?
To describe more than that would be to reveal spoilers.
This is a wonderful, brilliant script. I have no idea what the book is like, but this episode is one hell of an advertisement for it! It makes me want to get and read the book.
The photography, sets, props, costumes, and acting all invoke the period and you can feel what it’s like to be there. Hell, you can almost smell it.
The best scripts transcend their subject and make universal statements about human beings. This is one such script. I want to see more.
I think this will be another cult hit.
