According to NoWhereElse.fr, the Galaxy A8 will make its official debut in China on July 17 with a price tag of around €439.
Ouch. If Samsung follows Apple’s pricing scheme, that’ll be US$439-$450. Quite a premium over the similar Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3, which is US$249.
The LG G Stylo looks more attractive now at US$199.
The Wi-Fi only variants of the Galaxy Tab S 2 8.0 (SM-T710) and the Galaxy Tab S 2 9.7 (SM-T810) will come with price tags of €399 and €499 respectively. The cellular variant of the Galaxy Tab S 2 9.7 (SM-T815), which comes with 4G LTE connectivity, will be priced at €589.
Ouch again. This is iPad-like pricing. Except there’s no 32GB iPad Air 2, and the 16GB one is priced at US$499. So Samsung is throwing in 16GB more if the price is US$499.
What’s disturbing about the Tab S2 news is no mention of a stylus. I liked my brief time with a stylus on the 9.7-inch Tab A. Had Samsung included the S-Pen with both of these, as a standard feature, it would have been just about a grand slam.
But it seems Samsung is stuck in its ways and wants another quarter of disappointing sales.
