Interestingly, Best Buy says it’s selling the Z580C model of the Asus ZenPad S 8.0, but the specs it lists are actually those for one iteration of the Z580CA. We assume Asus’ naming conventions have managed to confuse even this well known retailer.
Boldfaced emphasis added by me.
I didn’t even look at the listed specs!
A reality check is in order.
Instead of going through all I did yesterday to get the AnTuTu score for the Asus ZenPad S 8.0, I should have checked YouTube! The score was published three days before in a video!
Xiaomi is, of course, being coy about what it is. And iLevon is being uncharacteristically mum (for now?). One leaker says it’s a thinner version of the Mi Note phone.
Update, August 22, 2015: I see this is a popular post. Let me point out up front that this is the US$199 lower-end version, not the US$299 version (that I call the “Plus/Pro” version in this blog) that features a USB-C port.
In one swoop, Asus has killed all Chinese iPad mini clones and embarrassed the hell out of Samsung too.
