Samsung Unveils Galaxy Tab S2, the Essential Tablet for Experiencing Digital Content

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will come in a variety of connectivity, storage and size options: 9.7-inch and 8.0-inch versions with Wi-Fi, or Wi-Fi and LTE, available in 32 or 64GB with MicroSD up to 128GB. It will be available in global markets, starting from August, 2015.

Samsung announces the 5.6 mm thin Galaxy Tab S2

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 hands-on

This time around, Samsung is fixing that by putting in the Exynos 5433 from the Galaxy Note 4 in the Galaxy Tab S2.

Boldfaced emphasis added by me.

How does the Galaxy Tab S2 stack up to the Galaxy Tab S?

Wait. WHAT?!!?

No Exynos 7420?!!?

So, no CPU from the S6.

What does this mean in terms of AnTuTu?

Let’s see …

With the premium price Samsung will be asking, I was expecting the latest flagship CPU.

Well, it’ll be available for fondling soon. Let’s see what it’s like then.

I’m still drooling over the prospect of that Super AMOLED screen in a 4:3 size.

And now, a bit of closure …

Will there be any version with S-Pen, or are we left with the Tab A’s 1024×768 if we want a Samsung 4:3 with digitizer? I am not amused and might be looking for the HP Tablet 608 despite its 7.85″ small size. The Tab A has a great battery duration, but a moderate pixel density for stylus use is not the best combination. I have hoped for the Tab S2 to resolve this contradiction – in vain?!

    • I’m disappointed too that there was no stylus version of the S2 announced. I had hoped there’d be one version of each, with stylus included. For the price Sammy is going to ask, they could have done the stylus to really compete against iPad and others.

  3. Hm I am sure they have their awful PenTile display there. That means that it is not actually retina screen as it is much less sharp. And it will cost up to 3 times more than standard retina chinese tablets.

    • Specs say Super AMOLED, but they went with a bland wallpaper that doesn’t pop like the original S 8.4. They also say the screen has special reading mode, which could also mean less pop.
