I’m behind in checking XDA. This was revealed on December 7 by cazar.
Nook GlowLight Plus rooting script
It’s pretty simple rooting script using local exploit found [on a Chinese site].
Instructions:
1. Enable USB debugging in Developer options
2. Connect USB cable and make sure your nook is showing up in ‘adb devices’
3. Extract rootGLP.zip and run rootnook.cmd (or rootnook.sh on linux)
The XDA post has the link for the file.
And now is the time to pounce on it …
It’s US$99 again. (And yes, Barnes & Noble would be stupid enough to raise the price again on Christmas Week, so don’t count on this price past the 19th.)
The Big Gotcha is that the Android Kindle app won’t work on it. No one has yet figured out why.
And there’s no word yet if anyone has managed to install the Google Framework on it, which might make the Kindle app work.
notarobot_ is still banging on changing the wallpaper/lockscreen.
And RenateNST has uncovered the weird way the Nook team handles wallpaper.
So, they’ve finally broken through with root and this can be the beginning of Good Things.
Reminder: Android apps can be sideloaded without root for the non-adventurous. In that case, there’s a version of Button Savior you’ll need.

Hey, how exactly do I install APKs?
I suggest going to the XDA forum where they’ve covered all of it. I never wound up buying this device.
