Well …
… seeing Iron Man was a surprise! Um, Reactron.
I’m already beginning to wonder what people expect from this series and if the ratings will improve.
As for me, just watching Melissa Benoist go through all her expressions is lots of fun and worth the time.
The reality for the actress is that she’s probably ending her day at 11PM and waking up at 3AM to do it all over again. When you consider that, it’s amazing her face is that lively.
Oh look …
… it’s Elon Musk! Um, Maxwell Lord. Wink wink.
The Super Watch:
Hmph. I wonder if they’ll put out a Summon Superman app for the Apple Watch?
Did anyone catch the point here?
The episode was all about her shattering the glass ceiling for a super girl.
It’s also interesting to see how they’ve dealt with a human opponent.
The entire problem with superheroes these days is that they’re a cultural anachronism. They were created in a different time, a different culture. And none of them ever addressed — and few do today — real life.
In the 1970s, there was a brief fling with what was called “relevancy” —
— but that didn’t last long.
During World War II, Superman was kept out of it by declaring Clark Kent 4-F to serve!
The real world is not kind to the notion of a super being.
Besides which, once Superman has flung a slumlord into jail, that story is all Been There, Done That. But in the real world, there are tens of thousands he’d have to fling in jail.
And then there are the slave-driving factory owners who don’t pay overtime. And the rapists, and the child molesters, and the embezzlers, and the CEOs, and the bankers, and the crooked traders, and …
… The Incredibles had it right:
So part of me wonders if Supergirl might sink in the ratings because of the idea itself, not the merit of the show.
On the other hand, how has The Flash been doing? I don’t know.
But I do know I’ll be watching the next episode of this.
Previously here:
Supergirl: Episode Two
Supergirl: Episode One
Supergirl: The Leaked Pilot
It’s hard to say what is going on with Flash.
The episodes are interesting, but I’m four eps in to S2 and still waiting for something to happen.
I guess one could produce a superhero / law & order hybrid show (“Law & Order: supercop” ?) to follow up on the trials of the villains.
Ha. That would be … weird.
