Zing!

https://twitter.com/urbanstrata/status/450696194814394368

@urbanstrata is Senior Global Online Communications Manager at HTC Corp. — I think he’s a bit sensitive about this: HTC Cheats At AnTuTu.

Edward Weinert and I agree that it’s time for AnTuTu to offer two measurements:

1) Turbo Mode
2) Normal Mode

And then there’s the question of this: Billionaire Founder of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, is Also Chairman of Maker of Antutu

People have been telling me to ignore AnTuTu and go with Geekbench. But most reviews — and videos — still cite AnTuTu, not Geekbench. So everyone has to switch over before AnTuTu goes away.

April Fools’ Day-Free Zone

April Fools’ Day

Really, if you’re over, say, sixteen and still pulling pranks on that date, grow the hell up.

Today the Internet will be filled with garbage as arrested-development cases try to make their pathetic serf-like lives matter by messing with everyone else’s minds.

That will not happen here.

Any posts will be the truth and not “Ha! Ha! Gotcha!”-like crap.

A sticky post that will sink this evening.

Scroll down for new posts.

Acer Iconia A1-830 Reviews Are Out

Some selected quotes …

Mobile Tech Review: Acer Iconia A1-830 8 inch Android Tablet Video Review (includes video)

Unlike the Kindle Fire HDX and 2013 Nexus 7 that sport 7″ widescreen displays in glorious full HD, the Acer Iconia A1-830 has a 1024 x 786 display. But for $200 how much can you expect?

Ramos i12c: Split-Screen Android

Ramosi12cSplitScreen

I’ve been so focused on iPad Mini clones that this completely went by me. I stumbled on it just today.

Ramos introduced the i12c, an Intel Z2580-based tablet with 2GBs of RAM, 16GBs of storage, and an 11.6-inch IPS screen at a bit disappointing 1366 x 768.

The big news is the split-screen capability.

HTC Cheats At AnTuTu

I was waiting for the final word on this before doing a post. It seems the final word is now in: HTC admits boosting One M8 benchmarks; makes it a feature.

If someone would like to get around this benchmarking optimization there are ways to do so, but we think most often this will not be the case.

Boldfaced emphasis added by me.

And then there’s some BS about a “High Performance Mode” — which isn’t even available yet in American units.

If “High Performance Mode” is supposed to measure their device’s strength, then it should also be used to measure their device’s battery life.

You can’t have it both ways, HTC!

Acer Iconia A1-830 Gets Another Light Review

Ah, the French. Acting like adults and ignoring those silly childish embargoes.

Prise en main de la tablette Acer Iconia A1-830, les signes d’une très bonne entrée de gamme [Google Translate].

It’s more of an overview than an actual review, but it includes two important pieces of information.
