This is absolutely sickening. An abuse of power that, in China, would lead to a swift trial and bullet to the brain after conviction. A practice that’s needed in this instance!
Several long term Dothan law enforcement officers, all part of an original group that initiated the investigation, believe the public has a right to know that the Dothan Police Department, and District Attorney Doug Valeska, targeted young black men by planting drugs and weapons on them over a decade. Most of the young men were prosecuted, many sentenced to prison, and some are still in prison. Many of the officers involved were subsequently promoted and are in leadership positions in law enforcement. They hope the mood of the country is one that demands action and that the US Department of Justice will intervene.
The police are supposed to help the helpless. Not oppress the helpless.
If you can’t imagine the injustice of having someone in a position of trust routinely violating that trust and framing you, destroying your entire future (for that’s what any conviction — voided or not — will do), then you lack empathy and are part of the ongoing problem.
Every single thing that African Americans said about their oppression — all that was disbelieved because it seemed unbelievable — is now being borne out as being true.
God help this nation.

Wow, an amazing report, being Australian I have read American news articles about people being arrested for driving while black.
I think this is a good thing though, these reports and the others about wrongful shootings recently are a sign things are changing these stories are like the pus from a lanced boil showing people are not accepting this behaviour anymore. Countries like America and Australia are in danger of becoming surveillance states. This can work both ways with citizens carrying cameras and documenting abuse of power and authority.
Inequitable sentences also need to be looked at.

Afraid it’s very easy to believe tbh :-( Glad it makes people angry, otherwise nothing will change. Most Americans seem keen to brush stuff like this under the carpet unfortunately….
