A Strange Archos Tablet Development

I signed up with J&R to be notified when the Archos 80 Titanium, Archos 80 Platinum, and Archos 97 Platinum tablets were in stock.

This morning I opened my email to find this from J&R:

Dear Valued Customer,

Recently, you submitted a stock alert requesting to be notified when we have the item(s) below back in stock. We are sorry to inform you that due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable provide you with this information. At the current time, we are unable to obtain sufficient information from the manufacturer as to when or if we will be receiving another shipment.

And it goes on to list the tablets I mentioned above.

So, I went to J&R’s website and lo, all of the new Archos Titanium and Platinum tablet listings have disappeared!

I don’t know what this means. Did these tablets fail testing at the FCC? If so, how did that happen since it seems the 97 Titanium is on sale in Europe? If they will pass FCC testing, does it mean Archos is delaying their entry in the U.S. or not selling them here at all? (Note the Archos 80 Cobalt never made it to the U.S..)

Previously here:
