Teclast Dual-Boot X98 Air 3G Gets A Review

Over at IMP3Net [Google Translate].

By combining two OSes into one tablet, the tablet is essentially split into halves. That decreases internal storage for each side. Teclast compounds that by including even more pre-installed apps on the Android side:

The Android side of internal storage:

The Windows 8.1 side of internal storage:

There’s no communication between the two sides. They can’t see each other’s files nor can anything be copy/pasted from one side to the other.

As for 3G, voice call use is possible only on the Android side. The Windows 8.1 side is limited to 3G data.

Sharing internal storage isn’t such a big problem, but what is with RAM, is it split too? How much RAM is aviable to system when is it activated?

  2. On Windows, 12 GB of free space is a joke. A single old AAA game can be that big.

    • Can’t install/run from microSD?

That’s why there’s a microSD card slot and high-speed cards, but lets be honest: not many AAA games are going to be running on a Bay Trail tablet, although I wouldn’t rule out something like Valkyria Chronicles with low minimum specs but huge 20GB filesizes.

  3. Hmmm

So let’s hope it comes to air 2 too with sharing internal storage.

Some guys on XDA managed to get dual-boot on pretty much every X98 Air 3G version (C6J6 / C6J7 / C8J7)

They also fixed the 48Hz bug

The X98 is only 1.33Ghz, I don’t see any option for the speed increase. Also Windows 8.1 has no option to change installation directory.

With only 32gb, how much free space is available to Windows 8.1 especially with Office 365 installed. Can Windows programs/apps be installed on the microsd? Does Windows have to use FAT32 so that Android can use the card also.

this TECLAST X98 Air 3G is really a good device i think, but i much prefer the ONDA V919 3G Air, becasue it is more convenient to switch the system with only one button, and no need to restart the tablet.
